Our “illustrious” president, and his sycophantic cult following seem to think our beloved flag needed an update. And this, rightfully, has caused an uproar among citizens, patriots, and veterans alike. No, your eyes aren’t decieving you, officials of the Lake County Democratic Club flew this disgraceful banner of vanity and treason over their headquarters for nearly two months. That all changed this past Tuesday when a group of around 20 U.S. Military Veterans confronted LCDC officials, demanding they remove the insulting flag bearing Obama’s likeness.
“It was extremely disturbing,” says Korean War Veteran Don Van Beck. “You have to be a veteran to understand how we feel about the flag. You go to war defending that flag and now they’re defacing it.”
Veterans and critics of the modified flag say that it is in violation of violation of the Federal Flag Code, which states “The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure design, picture, or drawing of any nature.”
Democratic Club Chair Nancy Hurlbert answered the door at Democratic Headquarters and told the veterans they could not take the flag down because this was private property. After a heated discussion, Hurlbert agreed to research the flag code, insisting the club had no intention of offending anyone and that the flag was a gift from one of its members. Hurlbert came back outside 10 minutes later and removed the flag from the pole, leaving an American Flag with the 50 stars which had already been on the pole. Club Secretary Janet Manchon says the anger didn’t end there.
“It was just vitriol. I’ve been called every name in the book,” says Manchon. “The flag means a lot to us. My father was a veteran. My husband’s a veteran. We feel badly because we support our veterans.”
If increasingly unpopular Prez. (approval rating around 41% and dropping) didn’t have enough to worry about, a bill in the house threatens to start impeachment proceedings against Obama if he were to use military involvement in Syria without Congressional approval.
The bill introduced last week by North Carolina Rep. Walter Jones declares that it is an impeachable offense for a president to authorize military action against another country without consent from Congress.
Jones spokeswoman Catherine Fodor didn’t return repeated requests for comment from The Daily Caller about the bill. But it has been reported that it was a response to chatter about the possibility of U.S. military action in Syria.
Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said during testimony before theSenate Armed Services Committee last week that “our goal would be to seek international permission” — and not necessarily congressional approval — before taking any military action in Syria.
“And we would come to the Congress and inform you and determine how best to approach this, whether or not we would want to get permission from the Congress,” Panetta said.
